The fanbase has mixed feelings about the band members ages, and some love it, some hate it.

You are watching: How old is 2d from gorillaz

If Noodle is aging from a 10 year old to a 26 years old over the course of 4 albums, it would make sense that the other members age too, but it just doesn't seem believable to me. Murdoc is 50. Russel is 40 and 2D is trailing close behind at 38.

But most importanly, MURDOC IS 50.

Are we supposed to take their ages accurately? Or will it be like when a sequel is made like 5 years later but takes place a few months after the first movie, and we just have to pretend like time hasn't passed?

But that still doesn't explain how Noodle somehow reduced the age-gap between her and 2D by 5 years.

At this point I'm just sort of ranting because it's confusing, so I guess I'll just cut it here, something to think about though, and something I hope they cover in Phase 4.

tl;dr: MURDOC IS 50

Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, white light
Murdoc is like immortal or something. He doesn't age in the regular way.

Murdoc is loosely based off Keith Richards, so being near immortal is a good defining trait of the character

I'm fine with it. There is nothing to suggest the timelines have to be completely linear, and all in all it makes sense they would reflect the age of Jamie and Damon (who are both 48 years old).

I have met many fifty year old men who look far better than Murdoc. (Who is also meant to be immortal and frankly is getting a bum deal)

2D is going bald.

Russel is looking like an aged funk brotha.

Noodle looks like a young woman.

Age effects everyone differently and the Gorillaz' ages are established. It depends how Jamie wants to draw them on the day...

Honestly, I'm cool with them aging in real time. It adds an element of realism to my favorite virtual band. Plus, 26 year old Noodle. I rest my case.

Yeah I agree, I like the realism of it. 2D definitely looks like he's aged - they all do.

I don't really think they're keeping it realistic. Maybe they'll age em all up, but because they're fictional and cartoons, they can be any age and look like anything.

Like in Melancholy Hill, Noodle looks 20-25

But in Do Ya Thing, she looks like she's 10 again

I don't think age will come into it all that much. I'll all come down to the style of the phase, and how they decide they'll look. Besides, I like to think Gorillaz are more of an ageless band.

She looks more phase 2-ish there.

When you can't get what you want, but you can get me

Well, it has been 16 years. Damon & Jamie are 48 and they still rock.

I don't have any issue with it, personally. I think Jamie's recent IG post makes Murdoc look younger than usual for some reason (could just be me though).
