About

National Park Service—U.S. Department of the Interior and Climate Friendly Parks

Since 1916, the American people have entrusted the National Park Service with the care of their national parks. With the help of volunteers and park partners, we are proud to safeguard these nearly 400 places and to share their stories with more than 275 million visitors every year. But our work doesn’t stop there.

We are proud that tribes, local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individual citizens ask for our help in revitalizing their communities, preserving local history, celebrating local heritage, and creating close to home opportunities for kids and families to get outside, be active, and have fun.

Taking care of the national parks and helping Americans take care of their communities is a job we love, and we need—and welcome—your help and support.

Do Your Part! for Climate Friendly Parks is a joint effort between the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and the National Park Service (NPS) with a goal of reducing the effects of climate change on our treasured national parks. NPS provides guidance and communications assistance, helping to spread the word to its park employees and 275 million annual visitors.

National Parks Conservation Association

Since 1919, the nonprofit, nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association has been the leading voice of the American people in protecting and enhancing our National Park System. NPCA, its 325,000 members, and many partners work together to protect the park system and preserve our nation’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage for generations to come.

NPCA is firmly committed to reducing the threat of climate change on our national parks by advocating for policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and that help the parks respond to climate changes already underway. NPCA proudly supports the National Park Service in its efforts to make the parks more sustainable, to educate the public about climate change causes and solutions, and to inspire Americans to do their part to help prevent human-caused climate change.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters believes in using the power of business to make the world a better place. From carefully sourcing and roasting the highest quality beans, to empowering employees and protecting the environment, they focus on what's important.

"Our goal is to create truly inspired coffee that's environmentally sound, socially just, and undeniably delicious. Protecting the environment and reducing our environmental footprint is central to our mission and  our business model.

Indeed, we all depend on the earth for life. This is true in places where coffee is grown, like Indonesia, Guatemala, and Rwanda. It is true in China, where our Keurig Brewers are manufactured. And it’s true at our headquarters in Vermont, our production and distribution facilities across the country, and in any of the thousands of locations where our products are sold."

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters

In 2009, NPCA was awarded a grant from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to encourage and empower national park visitors to “Do Your Part!” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
